Colonic Hydrotherapy cleanses the colon (the last part of the digestive tract) and removes
old faeces, dead skin cells, gas, parasites and toxins. If left, they can become trapped and accumulate, causing toxicity and can therefore lead to health problems, cause slow digestion and reduce absorption of nutrients. Colonic Hydrotherapy fully cleanses the colon and encourages the growth of good bacteria. All of the body’s systems can benefit and people often feel # better with mental clarity and sleep quality improving.
What does the process involve?
Warm, filtered water enters the colon using the natural gravity of water flow which stimulates muscle and nerve action and encourages peristalsis (the natural contractions that help eliminate waste). The large intestine is cleansed and toned and the bowel strengthened, encouraging more regular bowel movements. I use a closed system; all waste is piped away with no waste or smell and all equipment used is sterile. A treatment will last around 45 minutes, although sometimes longer. The gravity machine treatment is hands on allowing feedback and dialogue between client and therapist. I will also provide gentle abdominal massage to assist the process.
What to expect
Before the treatment, a brief rectal examination will be carried out and then a speculum (small tube) will be inserted. The procedure is not painful although you may feel
the urge to go to the bathroom and experience some slight stomach cramping at times (this
is completely normal). The treatment room is private and your modesty will
always be protected. Once the speculum is inserted, you will remain covered
throughout. There may be an increase in bowel movements over the first few hours
following the colonic to eliminate any remaining waste. Following this, you may not have a
bowel movement for a few days. Most of the gut biome live in the bowel wall and are not
removed during the colonic, in fact, a colonic actively increases the proportion of good
bacteria. We will discuss a treatment plan following your first treatment; it is generally
advised to have a colonic seasonally for maintenance although for many issues, more
treatments may be required.
Additional treatments
Probiotic implants can be given directly into the colon post Colonic Hydrotherapy. This is
extremely beneficial to people suffering from dysbiosis, excessive candida or who have had
a recent course of antibiotics. The implant increases the good gut bacteria and diversifies
the gut microbiome.
